Saudi Arabia’s mining sector recorded new developments this week across institutional partnerships and mineral exploration. Almasane Alkobra Mining Company, known as AMAK, joined the Mining Association as a Diamond Partner, while Sun Peak Metals completed its maiden diamond drilling campaigns across its Saudi exploration portfolio.
AMAK Joins the Mining Association as a Diamond Partner
Almasane Alkobra Mining Company announced on 29 July 2026 that it had joined the Mining Association as a Diamond Partner, strengthening integration between Saudi Arabia’s private and non-profit sectors.
The partnership reflects AMAK’s support for the Association’s role in developing the Kingdom’s mining industry and promoting responsible and sustainable mining practices.
Through the partnership, AMAK will contribute to specialized initiatives and programs focused on developing the sector, empowering national talent, facilitating knowledge and experience exchange, improving professional standards, and supporting innovation.
The Company emphasized that cooperation between private-sector companies and non-profit organizations is an important driver of mining-sector competitiveness and the effective development of Saudi Arabia’s promising mineral resources.
The partnership also supports the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to establish mining as the third pillar of the Kingdom’s industrial economy.
AMAK has been a founding member of the Mining Association since its establishment. Its decision to become a Diamond Partner represents an extension of its continued support for the Association and its mission to develop the industry, empower professionals, transfer knowledge, promote innovation, and build effective local and international partnerships.
Sun Peak Completes Maiden Diamond Drilling Campaigns in Saudi Arabia
Sun Peak Metals announced on 30 July 2026 that it had completed its maiden diamond drilling programs at the Safra Main and Halahila Main targets in Saudi Arabia.
The programs form part of the Company’s fully owned Saudi exploration portfolio, which covers approximately 1,072 square kilometres within the highly prospective Arabian-Nubian Shield.
During the first half of 2026, Sun Peak conducted systematic exploration programs that included geological mapping, rock and soil sampling, ground and airborne geophysical surveying, target generation, and maiden diamond drilling.
The Company reported that the Safra Main and Halahila Main drilling campaigns were completed on schedule and significantly below the planned budget.
Twenty-Three Exploratory Drill Holes Completed
Sun Peak completed 23 exploratory drill holes using diamond drilling, with a total drilled length of 3,764 metres.
Drilling at both targets intersected sulphide mineralization associated with geological structures and key horizons within volcanic and sedimentary rock packages typically linked to volcanogenic massive sulphide systems.
The Company submitted 961 drill-core samples for laboratory analysis, with the first assay results expected in late August 2026.
The results will provide important information on the nature, grade, and extent of the mineralization and will help determine the next stages of exploration at both targets.
Geophysical Surveying at the Al Miyah Project
In addition to the drilling programs, Sun Peak completed 1,345 line-kilometres of fixed-wing time-domain airborne electromagnetic surveying at the Al Miyah Project.
The survey is designed to identify potential subsurface conductors and geological targets that may help guide future exploration and drilling activities.
The Company also conducted gravity surveys across several gold and copper targets, including 728 stations at Hishashat and 117 stations at Al Miyah Main.
Exploration Progress at the Washaq Target
Sun Peak continued advancing the Washaq Target at the recently acquired Jabal Al Asad Project through a gravity survey covering 637 stations.
Exploration activities also included the collection of 44 rock samples and 45 soil samples, as well as follow-up ground electromagnetic surveying.
The work identified a large VMS-style gossan extending for approximately 1.5 kilometres along a northeast-southwest trend.
A broad hydrothermal footwall alteration zone containing gossanous stringer mineralization was also mapped, providing further geological indicators to support continued exploration.
Greg Davis, President and CEO of Sun Peak, said the Company continues to build a significant exploration platform in Saudi Arabia by advancing multiple projects through a disciplined discovery process, from regional target identification to drill testing.
