Saudi Arabia Engages with Global Mining Leaders at PDAC 2026

The global mining industry gathered in Toronto this week for the PDAC 2026, the world’s largest mineral exploration and mining convention.

The event welcomed 32,155 participants, marking the highest attendance in its history. More than 1,300 exhibitors participated in the convention, which filled the entire Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Over four days, the convention hosted investment discussions, networking sessions, and expert presentations focused on the future of mineral exploration, project development, and financing. Governments, policymakers, and industry leaders from around the world also participated, reflecting the growing importance of critical minerals in global economic growth, electrification, and supply chain security.

 

18 Companies Awarded Building Materials Quarry Licenses in Riyadh

The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources announced that 18 companies have been awarded building materials quarry licenses to exploit sand and gravel in two mining complexes in the Riyadh region.

Key details include:

• The licenses cover two mining complexes with a total area of approximately 18 km²

• The locations are South Al-Dakhl Al-Mahdood and South Al-Dalam

• The winning companies include several local mining and construction firms

• The move aims to support major development projects and the construction sector in the Kingdom

• It also helps regulate quarrying activities and protect sites from unauthorized use

 

Royal Decree Extends Service of Deputy Minister for Mining

A royal decree has extended the service of Khalid bin Saleh Al‑Mudaifer as Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Mining Affairs.

Al-Mudaifer has played a key role in advancing Saudi Arabia’s mining strategy under Vision 2030, including the development of regulatory frameworks, investment incentives, and exploration programs designed to position the Kingdom as a global mining hub.

 

New Exploration Licensing Round Launched Across Three Regions

The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources also announced the launch of a new exploration licensing competition covering eight mining sites across the regions of Riyadh, Hail, and Asir.

Highlights of the announcement:

• 8 exploration license areas offered to investors

• Targeted minerals include gold, silver, copper, zinc, and iron

• Sites span more than 1,800 km² in total

• Applications are being submitted through the Taadeen platform

• The deadline for bids is April 30

The initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader effort to accelerate mineral exploration, attract local and international investment, and strengthen industrial supply chains as the Kingdom continues to expand its mining sector.
